New here, after soldering practice (desoldering and resoldering a network card then seeing if it works) I decided to jump on the cart slot. I feel bad for anyone who used individual wires, the ribbon cable was a lot easier!
I'll keep you all posted on my n64p. Goin' out to get bens book tonite.
A question for anyone viewing. What's the best way to solder wires to relocate the expansion pack? It looks like some of the pins on my motherboard are actually missing, but I'm pretty sure I can solder it to the flush board. What guage wire? 18? 22?
The book is not available locally due to it not being that popular. Amazon carries them though. (By the way, there's no difference between the yellow and blue book)
And the clip things, those are called helping hands, I got mine at radio shack, and it came with a magnifying glass.
Does anyone know if it makes a difference to solder the cart slot to the existing holes where the pins pushed into, or just solder them to the existing outter solder points?

in theory, the center line of pins doesnt connect. so, the only difference is that the outer ones work. but im not sure.
