Good source for cartridge slots?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Good source for cartridge slots?

Post by icusdude »

are there any good sources online to order genesis cartridge slots?

i was thinking that it could be possible to just reuse one out of any old genesis system, but perhaps not.

i noticed how with the pinout diagram, ben says "You'll need a 64-pin card-edge connector with a .1 pitch. (You're on your own for that one)"

what exactly does he mean? wouldnt all of them have 64 pins, and what does .1 pitch mean?

sorry if the answers are obvious, but i figured you guys would know :) thanks.

Before we get back on topic, I know what you mean. I even started a thread in F42 for people to vent their anger, but it got locked.

Back on topic now.

OK. BACK ON TOPIC

If it's a genesis cart slot you're after, check around yard sales, Gamestop/Funcoland, Thrift Stores, Dumpsters, the classified ads, practically anywhere. I picked up 2 Genesis 2 systems at a yard sale for a buck, because neither of them worked. (Unfortunately, I got rid of them because I didn't know this site existed a couple years ago. )

Or check the trading post.

Sorry, I can't help you get just the slot connector, but Ben mentioned what it is on the Exodus page. Try checking there.

If you look in one of the thread Ben made about the Exodus he mentions where he got the cart slot for if. I'm pretty sure it was Digikey but not 100%, he also mentinoed they have 3 and you need to make sure you get one that has the pin spacing right to the cart.

I always thought it was Noob, n00b, etc. From what I hear it means: "a combination of new and boob"

On MOHAA I am "Uber-Noober", though I'm not a bad player.

And I guess for online FPS a "noob tube" is a rocket launcher (or other similar weapon) that noobs always pick.

i found the product on digikey, although it will cost like $35 CDN total

would it be possible to just remove the cartridge slot from a genesis and use it? if that was possible i could easily obtain one. let me know :)
