Ummm, the OLPC can't even run windows. Last time I checked it isn't even x86. I have a DS, and it's not really that small. I can make do with it. I don't need an OLPC.

In all seriousness, if you want to play games you can get an N10J, an Everun Note, or wait. Or you could get a full sized 'book. Your choice.

Laptop, has NO keyboard. Instead, it has two touch screens. One dedicated to make an amazing touch keyboard, and the other for the viewing. Now, both of those screens can be converted into an ebook reader, games player, e-paper mode, and more. Thats amazing. Dual touch screens, great for e-paper and small 2 player games.

there must be strings attached. it just cant be that cheap. it must be super low quality or something. nonetheless, i want one!

No, you don't. It's a crappy ARM processor, running a crappy UI on top of a crippled derivative of Fedora. It's one step above those $20 toy laptops Vtech sells at Toys-R-Us.

Then, unfortunately, the high-power netbooks are out of your price range.

If you want decent power, look at smallish (12-13") laptops.
If you're really hungry for power and don't care about portability, look at full-size desktop replacements.
If you want ultra-portability, go for a netbook.

The HP netbooks, MSI Wind, and Eee 1000 look decent. Samsung's NC10 model is at the high end of your price range, but it comes standard with a 6 cell battery that reportedly goes 6 hours on a charge.

I never said I wanted a High power one.
Just a simple one that can run basic emulators from systems below n64.
I mostly need it for school.

2. Does it have to be plugged in to play games?
3. How good is the battery life?
4. Where can I get one?

I've been looking at netbooks for a while because I'm planning on getting one (although I'm holding off for windows 7). Don't go without the Atom processor - the previous stuff doesn't hold a candle to it.

I always liked Asus's machines due to superior battery life (most come with 6-cell battery). Just be sure to try out the 9" and 10" models in store so you know if you can live with their keyboards - if you are going to be using it in school, you NEED to be able to comfortably type on it!

Those links you provided bear out the battery situation - the EEE has a 6 cell, where the other two have 3 cell batteries.

then spend an extra hundred bucks or so and get the external battery LAN pack and a spare regular or extended life battery (the pack is around 30-40$ and the batteries are i think 50-100$ depending on which one) then you should get 5+ hours and an ethernet port if thats important
