That sucks, thats why im doing my case last and making it extra sturdy. though im not making a frankencase im going to be using either one thats premade and mod it or just make it from scratch.

That's a lot better than finishing up the project and then having the project split in half while playing it for the first time! Are you going to try the same case again and try and reinforce it with something? Kind of like Bacteria's PSone guide, he used perspex around the edges to make the plastic more sturdy / stiff.

No, I'll probably use plexiglass for my case, like what mario did with his nesp. Though, I will try to make the case resemble a gameboy.

I don't think I'll be doing what you are for the case, triton. The retro duo is bigger, than the fc twin, anyway.

Well, a minor update. I decided to work on the case today. I made a great looking design, but when I was almost done with the first half of the case, the plexiglass bent a bit then split. So that destroys the idea of using plexiglass for a case. I can't think of anything to use as a case right now. Perhaps I will get myself a sample case from polycase.com. How much room is in the AG-85?

MINI UPDATE!!!

I decided to trim down the controller today, so I made it less than half its original size.

A pic of it in comparison to an uncut controller

Pay no attention to the solder on the controller, it was left over from a project I was doing a while back. Cookies to anyone who can remember what I was making.

EDIT: I just decided to buy an AG-85.

An excellent choice :D It's a bit of a tight fit, but if you can make it work it's a fantastic case to use. Very comfortable to hold.

Yes, I continuously watched the part of your super boy video where it shows the guts packed tightly in, but I figured that since my screen's mobo is much smaller than that of a ps1 screen, there will be some room to spare. Also, I dicided that I will be making the batteries external, with a clip on device (maybe strong velcro). Since I have several RC car batteries, I decided that if one goes dry, I can just unplug it and plug in another battery while waiting for the other to charge. Also, with externals, I won't need to buy more batteries for each new project.

Re: My retro duo snesp EDIT: HELP ME WITH SCREEN!

Post by themadhacker »

i had troubles with my screen before. everybody said to use a 75 ohm resistor, so I bought some. Today, to test them with the screen, I hooked up my DVD player to the screen with the resistor, and it looked like the same old crummy pale picture as before. I seriously do not know what to do now. I am wasting way too much money on this, and If nobody can help me with the screen, then I am abandoning this project.

I have welded à 22 Ohms 1/4 watt on the four leds and it's works very well.Leds must be mounted in parallel.

Take a look here.

In my experience, the pale colors are normal. Those screens just suck. Balls. :(

Don't give up, then all the money spent will be in vain!

Update! I got my black Ag-85 cases today. I got an extera for a future project. This is my first time using polycase, and I must say that I am quite impressed with the company. The cases came packaged very well, and they included a plastic cutting guide for speaker holes and power switch holes.

Now about the pustom screen. what is the minimum voltage needed to power it?
