Ya, I think most of the "Nobama" people are thinking of this:

Not a democracy. We are governed by the constitution, not by what the majority thinks.
You do realize that the majority of people in this country are complete dumbasses don't ya?
Yes, which is why its good that we aren't a full-blown democracy.

True as that statement might be, what we really are is a representative democracy. We the people elect a person by majority to act in our interests. Well that might not always happen, it's how we all vote... or rather should. We vote for who's values and actions match best with our own.

SOCIALISM YAAAAAAAY
While I'm sure you're excited about that, I personally want the chance to earn money and have a family. And have that money be large enough so that I can take them out to have fun, whenever I have the time. I don't like it when people in the government are telling me how much money I can earn, and what my money is going to be spent on.

The money I earn at my job is first and fore-most my money. I will let the government take what it needs to run itself, but I don't like the idea that my money was given to banks. Practically thrown at them with the words, "Here do what you will with it, just fix the problem!"

Socialism works if everyone is willing to work and put forth the effort. The problem you find all to often is that someone is going to figure out that they're going to earn money no matter how hard they work, or at all. It's a nice Utopian idea, but you have to make people earn their keep, their food, their lively-hood. Otherwise we're just lazy.

which is why I'm glad its not majority rule and that there are (supposedly) limits on what the government can do

Contrary to popular belief, people don't bark at each other and piss everybody off when talking about politics.

Exactly. Plus higher taxes on the wealthy means my boss gets taxed to hell so he's not going to be too happy about hiring people or giving me a raise.

Well, I remember a while back when we attempted to have a discussion and it got shut down. So, what makes this any different? Way to go mods.

Socialism NEVER works. Everyone wants to have something better then there neighbor. This simple human drive screws up socialism.

You really think Free Health care is good? My friend from Britain (Getting his PhD in Bio at UT) says that there Health Care system is crap compared to what he pays for here.

Sure it is "Free" but that dosn't mean its good. I would rather pay a doctor out of my own pocket cause I know hes a good doctor then go to some government payed jockey.

If its Government Run its crap. Small government FTW. Libertarians Unite!

I am happy that Obama did win over McSAME though. Atleast Obama will get us out of Iraqi and hopefully get a playoff system for the NCAA football season.

Guys lets not make this issue snowball out of control.

I agree political discussions are touchy subjects but getting mad and making fun of the winning or losing side wont make America or any other democratic country better. In fact more people need to embrace the political process and really understand whats going on with his or her respective government. That one thing I will say I was glad about in this election was more people where starting to look for the facts themselves and understand the problems facing America.

The time for division is over we need to unite as Americans not as democrats or republicans whose goals are to worry about there own parties influence. In fact I wish we never had a two party system so we could rely more on the influence of one man's view not his party's views.

We have elected our first African president, now I'm looking forward to electing a true independent president that is not tied to directly to any party and will do whats right for the country.

What you americans dont get (not trying to be racist or anything) is that Universal Health Care doesent mean SOCIALISM , It doesent mean that Lenin and Stalin are going to rise from the grave and kill all human beings. It is just a fair way because it means that we can all have access to medicine and no, it does not mean doctors are slackers. To prove my point I'll let you know that most countries in Euroupe have Universal Health Care and most of them are governed by right wing parties.

I don't care if something is technically socialism or not (by the way, Those guys were commies, not socialists.) I value the free market.
