Re: ps360 controller help
some kids here are going to say get a desoldering iron. Best way mind you. I'll say take a long piece of braided wire and dab it off bit by bit.piker86 wrote:what is the best method for getting the solder of the joystick connections? i dont seem to be having much luck with the new solder on the old solder.
you can just map the components from where the board takes the pots and smash them off the joy stick pcb. thats all the trubble I ever went through with those things. its just going to get mounted to some thing else so you end up tossing that bit away.
Re: ps360 controller help
I'd love some help with this too. Buying a desoldering iron isn't really an option, because barely anyone sells them way out here in New Zealand. And the cost of one would probably cost more than getting Ben/RDC to make a PS360 controller for me.
I'm off to buy some desoldering braid for now. Hopefully I have more luck with that.

have you mixed new solder with the old solder? I guess thats what works with this new rhos compliant solder.

It works to an extent, but never gets rid of all of it. I've been trying to cut away the remainder with a knife, and it's working very very slowly.asdfjkl; wrote:have you mixed new solder with the old solder? I guess thats what works with this new rhos compliant solder.

then if you don't have any solder wick, get the solder all melty and then wipe it with a wet sponge or something, maybe an old shirt you don't want anymore.

Okay, I got the left stick off finally! I upgraded my soldering iron to a 60W. Then dumped new solder onto the pins and used a solder sucker to remove it - I did that several times over. Any stubborn solder I used solder wick for.
I might just use RDC's method of lengthening the right analogue stick, rather than going through all that trouble again just to fit a spacer under it.
