Best games of 2008

Post by palmertech »

2008 almost over (For the US). I was reading some of the mainstream media :Best games of the year" lists, and they suck. For example, Time magazine's list had "Fieldrunners" (An iphone tower defense game) in its top 10. It is an ok game, but is not a very good tower defense game, and was released with no sound or music!

People here tend to have pretty good taste, it seems; What were YOUR favorite games of the year?

Mine were probably Chrono Trigger DS, Gears 2, and Rolando.

GTA4 is amazing..
MGS4 I wouldn't consider because the game isnt too great (sorry MGS fans, i'm one of you, but forget 4)
Littlebigplanet is amazing
Gears of War 2 is probably a contender
Resistance 2?
SF2 Remix
Fallout 3?

There are others but I can't really make a list right now, there are a lot of games though.

I didn't play many games this year, to be honest.

I bought a few games this year that I've still yet to play, unfortunately, so I can't really judge them. Out of what I've played I'd have to pick Rock Band 2, a solid improvement on the original and a great song list. Maybe after I play Fable 2, Fallout3, and Gears of War 2 I could make a better decision, lol.

Fallout 3 for me.

GTA IV meh, it is alright.

MGS4 would have to be a very very very close second.

Well, out of what I have from 2008.

Fable II - Very fun
Animal Crossing: City Folk - What can I say it's Animal Crossing.
Gears of War II - Biggest disappointment I've seen. I love Gears of War 1, and seeing how they threw online capabilities in right before it was released I thought that they would be able to make Gears 2 even better, didn't live up to the hype though. If you've played Gears 2 and not Gears 1 I highly suggest you pick it up.
