Want to make an XBOX 360 laptop
I have a few questions though,
What 17" monitor should I use that I can get in Toronto, ON?
Can I buy a good heatsink for the cpu instead of making one myself?
How much would it cost to get a case made (at a CNC shop I think?)?
If I make a fairly good quality laptop, about how much would I be able to sell it for?
I know I can do it, the only thing I'm worried about right now is splitting the monitors internal power supply board in half with an exacto knife.
Anyone have any tips, or suggestions for someone who is doing something like this for the first time ever?

If you are building one to sell, and want peopel here to walk you through step by step, you're going about it wrong.

Right, but you can still get a ballpark.guitarman_715 wrote:how much you could get for it im guessing mostly relies on the quality and what it looks like. Just my guess.
It's about $800 for the bare bones, and can go up to any crazy price, depending on how crazycool it is.

If you don't want to believe me, I'm sorry I can't do anything about that. The real reason I want to do this is for a fun project, and experience. Then I have a nice toy to show off with as well.
I mean, I might sell it, well I probably will after using it for a while, but then I'll use the funds to work on another project.
I'm only 13 years old but I didn't post that before, because I know people are going to discriminate because of my age, and think I will not be able to do this. I don't really need money now, in fact I have much more than I need, hence the reason of doing this project. Computers/technology is my passion, so I enjoy working with them. I built my first high end computer at the beginning of this year, but that was a fairly simple task that cost a lot of cash. This is my next challenge, and after this I may move on to a ps3 laptop, or try something of my own.
Anyways, enough of my story, can we get back on topic?
Thanks to those who have contributed to this thread.

If you need any help, I can I have made 3 laptop portables in my lifetime, and am working on a 3rd stationary one.
Also, the age thing dont fly here. You are treated the same, and can never be used as an excuse. (Im only 15, started modding at 13 as well, making a NES Portable before I knew anything about ben)
And mentally, if you say that you are only hurting yourself.
Like if you wake up after 5 hours of sleep you can say "Only 5 hours
" or Wow 5 hours of sleep" and the second option will help you more because you think its better
A little off topic, but ill help you when I can ,also parts etc.

Ok thank you Sony, I need all the help I can get. And thanks again, for that little part about age, and what you've done.
I was thinking about watercooling it, but I don't really want to spend more than $400-$600 on this. I mean I can pass the budget if needed, but obviously the lower the better, just in case I do something wrong. Watercooling would take up more space, and add atleast $150 for a simple setup (assuming I would use the same equipment as a PC watercooling setup uses).

Just fans, and no keyboard.
Honestly, when have you said, I wish there was a keyboard here?
And keyboards can be plugged in externally when needed.
So have a working laptop, or risk it and go with a keyboard?
Just dont try to cut down on space if it involves modding the Heatsinks in some way...like cutting them

If you do watercooling, you really need to do it completely custom.
This means it's actually cheaper, around $50.
But, you need to be very careful, a leak will obviously cause catastrophic failure.
One of Ben's 360 laptops has watercooling, look into it.

SOrry about my earlier post, i kust think that building something to sell defeats the enjoyment of modding.
Moving on, you can get additives for the water so it is non-conductive i believe.
