Post by trogdor4354 »

This will be my first portable and I have been looking on this site and other sites for guides and such and I have found some very useful information but I really don't know where to start if someone could give me a link to a guide for making one of these it would be appreciated.

By the way, most (probably all) people are going to tell you to look for the information on your own and that all the information that you need is on this forum. Nobody really has/makes guides, except for Ben. His guide is his book.

Get parts:
N64
Screen
Batteries
Controller
3.3V regulator
Fan
Heatsinks
Wire
Case (buy/make)

Make portable:
Wire screen to batteries
Wire N64 to batteries and 3.3v regulator
Wire screen to N64
Wire controller to N64
Stuff in case (Screws - NOT hot glue)

That is basically it. The specifics are deep within the ancient threads of the Benheck forum - The search button is your friend.

Look at my site (see sig) - all the info you need to make an N64. Wait for a couple of months and I will be selling cases to house an N64 portable - might well suit your needs, especially as it will include a step-by-step hand-holding guide.

if you find guides that have died, use the Wayback Machine (most are archived)http://www.archive.org/
