Is the dvd player one of the ones that can be used in a portable? I have an audiovox that can, but its screen is 7 inches wide.

It has AV in, but it goes to the board in the bottom half. I'm not sure what signals are sent up to the top half, though (I don't know if you can hook composite to anywhere on the screen board). The screen board goes about .5" past the screen on all sides, so it isn't really that small.

I assume it would. If the connector is the same, then I don't see why it wouldn't. The pins are spaced about the same as a laptop hard drive's, but there are 50.

I think the issue would be the opening. You would probably have to mod the iMac case to make room for the larger tray-loading disc drive.
