Pirate's PS3 Laptop (Playstation 3 "Portable")

Post by PirateHax »

Well since this place was the source of my inspiration I thought it would make sense if I posted it here:
Well after 3 months of working on it I am proud to present my version of the Playstation 3 Laptop.

Here are a few specs:
  • 80gb SKU w/320gb HDD
  • 17" 720p HDTV LCD Monitor
  • Keyboard
  • Built in speakers with headphone jack
  • Custom cooling (SilenX fans)
  • Size: 16 x 10.5 x 4 inches (when closed)
  • Weight: 15 pounds
This project was inspired by Ben Heck, and I decided to create my own version with a few tweaks of my own. For one I made all the back ports still accessible as I would like to play on my 1080p HDTV from time to time :).

Also another modification was custom cooling using Silenx fans, making it quieter than stock PS3's (when running during games).

And here are all the screen shots you guys have been waiting for:

I do expect to make more versions of this in the future now that I know exactly how to do it, and hopefully be slimmer and more portable :).

If you interested in custom work, drop me a PM and we can go from there.

That thing is awesome!

Bit Thicker than Ben's PS3 laptop. But looks just as sturdy.

Nice work. What are the dimensions? Looks on the chunky side.

I think the thing's big enough that it could stand to have a handle on it for carrying around.

that out of the way: looks great.

Simply godly, my friend! :P Are you gonna keep it or sell it? I'd just be interested to see how much it goes for; something like this would make a KILLING on eBay!

That looks nice, a bit thick, but nice. I would sell it on ebay and then use that money to make a even nicer one and ebay that one to.

Yeah maybe, I could use a CNC machine :)

Just out of curiosity, how much do you think I can sell this for? I would really like around $5000 USD, a lot of effort was put in.
