I work in a Pub and i dont mind it really, i work in the kitchens (its got a proper restaurant) washing dishes, making starters and desserts and the like.

Pay's not great, and the hours are a bit unsociable but its easy work and i get free food and free beer so cant complain too much.

Its bareable cos they guys i work with are great. Once we glue'd a stool to the ceiling cos we were bored (with a can of no-more-nails). We've also Duct-taped on guy to the wall as well.

Its a very demanding job

Things not to do: Telesales

I did that for a month and its quite possibly the most mind numbing experiance i had. Plus i dont have the heart to try and sell double glazing to confused old people.

I also worked as a Carer for old and disabled people, paid very well, but far to depressing. I couldn't handle that.

I work for the US Army as a software engineer on these guys. At least until next spring when my internship ends. It's a pretty awesome job with some awesome people I get to work with. I'd tell you more but hey, it's need-to-know kind of stuff. :P

I'm a computer programmer for an aviation software company. Used to work in construction and in the photo lab at a drug store.

Of course, when people ask me what I do I usually say I'm an exotic dancer. It makes for a far more interesting conversation. :D

Awesome. *Salutes Black Six* :P I plan to do work for the government myself when I'm older, perhaps something a bit more gritty, though.

Anyways, right now, I'm trying to get an internship for a couple newspapers. It'd be a perfect after school job, and just fun enough where I wouldn't feel it a burden on top of all this AP coursework I've got (I think four in one year was a bit much). Oh well, just one more year, then I'll apply for college...

Hey when you have Secret level clearance things can get gritty. :P Actually, people that work in the same division as me have been sent to Iraq for like a year to work with the Paladins in the field. You make a whole lot of money for that, since there's hazard pay and 10+ hour days 7 days a week. So yeah, don't think it's all fun and games. ;)

Connecticut's minimum wage is 7.65, you were doing something wrong. And where in CT do you reside?

I'm a painter, working for my father, been doing it part time, slowly more and more since around 7th grade, around 7-8 years.
I live around New Haven. But I was 13 and 14 (worked for 2 years) while I worked there, and it wasn't really a camp, they didn't feed/board me. But I stopped working there a while ago. (November 19th 2006 to be exact! You know why I remember this date) My magnet business pays much better though, about $50-$70 an hour!
If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.

Well, it helps a lot that I live near a major international airport, NWA's biggest. I really wanted some kind of a job for an airline, so I looked at the MSP airport's website, found out all the airlines that fly there, and applied to every job I qualified for at every airline that was hiring. No, it's not pretty.

The QSA position was the only one that had me go in for the interview and everything. I was lucky, though... about 370 people sent in applications, and roughly 35 were hired. Granted, a lot of people dropped out when they found out that their weekends would be taken, but I can't imagine that being 335 people that would ;)

I just got a job for the summer working at UAMS (University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences). I'm working as a lab assistant, researching Staph infection. It's pretty cool stuff, and at $10/hour, it's incredibly profitable 8)
