Wii Axes mp3 Support
Well this sucks. For those of us who use mp3 files as our primary music file, we'll be getting screwed over for the newest version of the Photo Channel, which adds some considerably nice new touches. However, Nintendo has decided not to support mp3 files, and instead, only use AAC format music files. I can understand adding AAC file support, but dropping mp3 support entirely? What the hell, Nintendo?
I don't really use the photo channel or anything, but having the support for music is still nice.

How much you wanna bet they dropped the mp3 format because they are too cheap to pay royalties.
I bet thats the only reason why.
They are already making a killing, so they are gonna cut mp3 support to save a few pennies.
Cheap bastards.....
Edit by mod: Please don't bypass the language filter. This is not the first time you've done it, don't make us have to punish you.

Yeah, its not like Nintendo is having a financial hardship, which is surprising when you can count all the good games for the DS and Wii on your hands (probably even 1 hand).Jongamer wrote:But I never used the photo channel either, but it makes me mad when they go and be stingy just to save a few $$

I'm sorry you feel that way. I have about 15 DS games and 7 Wii games, and I like them all (some more than others). I don't know what kind of hands you have, but I can't count to 22 on one hand.vskid wrote:you can count all the good games for the DS and Wii on your hands (probably even 1 hand).
I never used mp3's in the photo channel, so this doesn't affect me at all. But, seriously, doesn't Nintendo have enough cash lying around to pay the stinking royalties? Penny pinching can drive the consumers nuts, Nintendo; don't irritate your fans.

The only games that interest me are some of the first-party ones, and thats only a few. There are a lot more Gamecube games that interest me than Wii games, Nintendo is taking the Wiimote for granted. Then you have the "brain training" games, that crap alone is almost enough to make me boycott them. I just really disagree with their current market strategy, they had it in the old days, but now, I think Microsoft is where its at.lifeisbetterwithketchup wrote:I'm sorry you feel that way. Now that's pushing it. The DS has PLENTY of good games, you'd probably need extra appendages to count them all. I'd say the Wii has at or around 10 must-buys, but again, it's been out for almost exactly a year. How many good 360 games were there after only a year? Or PS3? I rest my case.vskid wrote:Yeah, its not like Nintendo is having a financial hardship, which is surprising when you can count all the good games for the DS and Wii on your hands (probably even 1 hand).Jongamer wrote:But I never used the photo channel either, but it makes me mad when they go and be stingy just to save a few $$

Too bad im absolutly sick of most shooters.
Super Mario Galaxy >>>Half-life 2 series>>> Any other FPS to date
Shooters got old back before the Xbox 1 died.
Though I am picking up Orange box for PC for the 3 Half-life 2 games.
@CTF
I agree, what did the 360 have its first year?
As for Wii games, people just seem to think cause of this mass of (excuse my french) shi* 3rd party titles, a lot of the good ones get buried so it appears as nothing but shovelware on the Wii.
List of Wii`s must buys for 1st year.
Legend of Zelda:TP
Super Mario Galaxy
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure
Metroid Prime 3
Mario Strikers:Charged
Medal of Honor Heros 2
Resident Evil 4:Wii edition
Battalion wars 2
Trauma Center (launch title)
Trauma Center: New blood
Guitar Hero 3 (Must have if you dont have a 360/PS3)
Exitetruck
Naruto Revolution (Forget its full name but considered the best Wii fighter by IGN scoring a 8.X or somthing.)
Xbox 360
Burnout Revenge
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 3
Dead Rising
Oblivion
Gears of War
Perfect Dark Zero
RainbowSix Vegas
Ghost Recon Advance warfighter
Viva Pinata
PS3
Ratchet and Clank Future:Tools of Destruction
Assasin's Creed
Guitar Hero 3
Call of Duty 4
Resistance Fall of Man
Stranglehold
Ninja Gaiden:Sigma
Oblivion
Ghost Recon Advance warfighter 2
Virtua Fighter 5
Warhawk
They are pretty much the same, so you CAN'T say at all that the Wii does'nt have any good games.

I dont really care about the change in format, since I only used the mp3 support to play background music in Excite Truck. I can just re-rip my cds if I really wanted.
Also, does anyone know of any decent free MP3 to AAC convertor, BESIDES the older versions of iTunes:?: We all know re-encoding music hurts quality, but if you dont have an original source anymore than there really isnt much choice. Besides, most of us are only using them for "background" music on the Wii.

isnt it redundant to say that lossless compression is 'good'?theelk wrote:I've actually started using Apple Lossless. It sounds crazy good. But I don't use the Wii sound feature, so it doesn't matter to me.
arent all lossless compression formats perfect and identical sounding?
Use FLAC instead of some stupid proprietary apple format
unless you have a wii.
cant you just refuse themp3-less update? grr I hate software that updates itself without telling you.grahf wrote: Also, does anyone know of any decent free MP3 to AAC convertor, BESIDES the older versions of iTunes:?: We all know re-encoding music hurts quality, but if you dont have an original source anymore than there really isnt much choice.
