Screen way too dark

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Screen way too dark

Post by tjlenz »

Just a question that I hope I can find an answer to. I have been reading up on what screens I can and can not use for my portable. So I was just thinking that my portable dvd player screen would work, but there lies the problem. The screen is just too dark. Turning up the brightness on the display doesn't help it either. You can see the image so I know it works but I can't get it to display its original bright vivid colors. Any thoughts would be great.

Sounds like your backlight is burnt out. Look into "LED Modding" your screen.

So I ended up taking apart the whole dvd player to see if I could get the lcd to look brighter with another light source. After the hour or so getting the whole thing taken apart I hooked all the boards back up( damn thing had 6 boards jammed in there) to test it out. Well needless to say after working for a minute or two the damn thing isnt doing anything anymore. Lcd wont come on, drive wont check for disk, the damn power led wont even turn on. Help, POS is giving me more trouble than its worth.
