I just registered. I was holding off because I am a total noob when it comes to modding electronics and I didn't want to waste people's time with my basic questions. After reading Ben's book I'm hoping to have a better grasp on things though.

And I am a he...not a he/she

I look forward to speaking with you all, and I can't wait to tackle the Gamecube project. I really like the system and being able to take it with me on the go or play it on the couch while my wife watches crappy reality shows will be a nice distraction!

Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

yeah, I know, but like I said before you can never be sure on the Internet, so I thought I'd write out both genders :).

300th poster! What do I win? I hope it's a portable Gamecube.

I was going to run with the he/she joke but I didn't want to get off on a bad foot by claiming to be a hermaphrodite or anything. I would have typed it the exact same way because you never know who's on the other end, but it looked funny so I couldn't resist.

I can understand the lack of female interest. My wife asked me why I would even bother with such a project, especially since I haven't finished the last couple projects I've attempted (although in fairness, my arcade cabinet has been put on hold while we've moved into an apartment while building our house -- I keep telling her I'll get to it, after I finish playing the flurry of games out of late). She can deal with the video games but she doesn't understand how a guy who knows nothing about hacking and electrical work would attempt something like this. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.

I look forward to speaking with you all in the future.

Just a few people understand the portable projects, for most of the people its better to just buy the portables meant to be portables and have the remakes of the games on newer consoles, but the art of portabilizing is great and is gaining interest fast.

Is there any way you can email that to me? Or can gannon or sponge add the file to the mirror site? Thanks.

since it's over 10 mb, I can't e-mail it to you :(. If gannon/spongey decides to put it on the mirror site then you can watch it :), and if not, I'll make a 10 mb one just for you to watch ;).

I don't know the password for the mirror, or anything about using it for that matter. It was all gannon's doing. Try using the proxy.

HOLY CRAP!!!! That is one of the most insanely cool things I've seen!!!!

That is pure gaming perfection, my friend. That video had me drooling like a ravenous wolf. I have got to make one of them!

How long have you gotten the battery life to run for. I remember you wrote something about 2.5 hours, which is fine, but have you been able to get more out of it? Can you plug an AC adapter into it to play?

I can't wait to tackle this project. I look forward to the tutorial. If your walkthrough is able to take a noob like myself through each of the steps I'd be eternally grateful. I'm already looking into classes at Home Depot to learn the basics of electrical and soldering, so I can understand the stuff about powering the unit and wiring the inards.

Again, absolutely amazing job!
