there are 50 pins. Also, I am still "designing" my portable, I am still gathering parts and i will start work when school is out and I have everything.I was thinking of using a joystick type accesory port they used to use on old computers (well, their still on their but everything is USB). They are 9-pin connectors and I think they may get used in my PIP (portable in progress). I was thinking of making my own video cords from wire that way I could use them on a TV or another screen. Also, I was thinking I could make mine with a little plug to hook up a box that would have controller ports in it along with video and all that cool stuff. I thought it was just a stupid idea I had came up withg until I actually began to look at materials then I actually began to see how it could work. I am going to cram everything in the main system that I can but I could have a big hookup port for a little box and have any other accesories I want in it like controller ports. Also, I could add an extended battery. I don't think this is such a bad idea now, what does everyone else think, plese place your comments (good or bad)

Glad to hear you're starting a new project, but wouldn't a new thread be more appropriate?

the whole post is basically to explain an idea for the video and controller ports. I am going to make a new thread as soon as I offcially start the work. right now I am waiting till school is out (in the US, that will be June 12 where I live).

EDIT: I am sorry if you thought I was trying to steal your thread. I just didn't think that comment/idea needed a new thread, it fit in perfectly in this post. Anyway, I wanted the person designing the portable to read this message.

No problem... Sounds cool. I need to get started back on this project. I'm building myself an electronics workbench so it can be a little easier for me to work on it. All the parts are stripped down, I still need to LED mod the screen. Once I get all the power connectors for the screen and console down, I'll start wiring the proprietary video/controller connectors.
