I was browsing around on ebay yesterday when I happened across this -> http://cgi.ebay.com/GENERATION-NEX-MESS ... dZViewItem

It looks super compact already, and if you add a little bigger case and a screen you've got one super easy NES portable. I'm going to start asking my wife if I can get one, and if I do I'll post pics as soon as it arrives.

I've seen that before...

In fact, the official site that sells those also sells wireless NES, and SNES controllers.

As far as FOAC/NOAC based clones go the Messiah model seems to be rather low-grade. There are systems available for under a quarter as much as this one costs with dramatically better audio quality, for example. I'd opt for one of those instead. Or you could always install the CPU board from a less crap Famiclone and do a bit of rewiring to rig it to the NES 72-pin slot. Not terribly difficult.

I've worked with one and it horrible quality. If you're looking for something like this, buy a Super Joy III (Power Player III). They're three times as small and cost three times less. Unfortunately, quality between the two does not differ much. :P

I've used/disassembled a Power Player/Joy III before and the quality is astonishingly poor. They're shoddily built, unreliable, and when they DO work audio compatibility is low, software compatibility is low, and video quality is poor. If you have to pick up a cheap Famiclone the best bet for one that's easily available is probably the Famulator (which can be had for roughly $20-$30.) The PCB isn't as small as the Power Player/Joy's but the quality of the construction is very high, and its FOAC is much better in terms of audio reproduction accuracy and CPU processing speed (it's about as snappy as a genuine RP2A03.)

I own a messiah and it is the coolest Remake of an NES and the audio is really good. I have not had any problems with it at all. I mean theres a couple games that arent too compatible with it but other than that, this system is really cool. I also got the wireless controllers and those work great too.

That is pretty small. It sure looks cool enough...that's actually a similar design to what I had planned for my NESc project (that's right, I choose the letter C, can you figure out what it means?)

The Famulator has just as small a PCB, perhaps smaller, vastly superior sound reproduction (as NOAC/FOAC chips go), better build quality than a Generation NEX and costs less. I'd avoid the NEX if I were you.

all noacs are pretty much garbage both the visuals and audio.

but the nex has both an nes and famicom slots on it, works with all nes accessories, has the built in wireless, and it looks cool.

if you want something that will work "perfectly" buy an nes.

I would buy those nice Controllers, but....... I dont feel like Paying $40+ for NES controllers.

They also have Wireless Snes controllers, but those are like $60.

Just get a Yobo or Fami-twin, a lot cheaper than that, and that I heard has some Compatibility issues.
