I'd much rather see a rom interface (either via network, SD, or disc) so I can play some...homebrew games.

Like what? I could guess maybe no dependency or something - no warranty, but what else?

i heard of some chips just being faulty, damaging the cube after awhile, very difficult to install (doesnt apply here), and horrible service

you can take a look here most of the threads are about problems

I've installed chips and hard drives in PS2s and chips in PSXs. I'm going to leave my Wii and Cube alone. I'm sure that the chips will be out one day, but I think I'll stick to playing my original games. ;)

Yeah both are the same featurewise. Its going to be interesting to see how this develops with respect to virtual console games.
