Mmmmmmmmm interesting...

Post by jeroen »

...just noticed. I have this gc Zelda collectors disk here. I heard it uses emulationg to emulate the nes. (and n64) My guess is the virtual console is actually this same emulator. (with some improvements, but stil running on the gc hardware) "proof" might be that
Zelda was one of the vc launch games.

Kinda like my friend took a ROM of Quake64 (N64) and edited that .PAK files that contained the game data and added in new models and a new progs.dat, so now it's like playing a Quake Mod. Probably possible to add in a new ROM, but you could probably only fit one per disk and it would have to be renamed to Zelda.NES, unless you hexedited it to add in a ROM menu.

I believe there was a game loader for the Gamecube that could do that (Cubesoft Phoenix)

why not just take the game's code apart and see how it emulates both n64 and NES, then isolate those to different paths to run one's own n64 and nes emu, or are the n4 Zeldas ports?

wow. All i'm trying to say is. My theory is nintendo's vc on the wii is the same emulator as on this disk. (with some improvments) running on the gc hardware in the wii.

Well, Jeroen, the best way to test your theory would be to find a bug that occurs in the GCN version and see if the same thing happens in the Virtual Console version. It's a very real possibility that they are indeed one in the same.

I wonder if Nintendo will release the same glitchy version of Majora's Mask. I remember how I was playing once without saving (you can't save that easily in Majora's Mask) and the game froze so I had to replay a whole dungeon. Then it froze again and that's when I decided that my Nintendo 64 still had use :)

When the Wii accesses the cube hardware, it goes complete into cube mode. Meaning that the remote doesn't work, and you can't return to the Wii menu, and you have to manually shut it off. So I'm thinking the emulator's are all new for the Wii.
SNESp - 100%
Protable X - 15% - I need money :(
