ps3 super emulator?

Post by lost4468 »

Hi i was noticing that the ps3 is open source and that it can run linux now at the heart of the ps3 its got a 3.2ghz processor and the 360 has got a 2.4ghz (i thnk) but woudnt i be right that it woud be possible for the ps3 to emulate a 360 and play 360 games it coud also emulate a wii because the wiis remotes are bluetooth and so is the ps3 controller so woudnt it be possible to make a wii and 360 emulator for the ps3 i know that woud be hard but im asking if it woud be possible if it is then woudnt the ps3 be able to play all next gen games.

Not a chance!

It has to be 5 times as powerful! An the ps3 controller couldn't emulate the wiimote. Think of the pointing! The gloriuos pointing!

Yeah shockslayer's right. zthe PS3 isn't powerful enough. It is powerful enough to emulate PS2 games though.

I'd say that if the PS3 is lucky, then it might be able to emulate Xbox games. But, thats like the Texas Rangers winning the World Series Lucky (I'm from Texas, so it's cool  ) But anyway, I'd like a N64 Emulator if anything (Nothing beats Perfect Dark)

(BTW: The Xbox 360 Runs on 3 Cores each at 3.2 Ghz)

Would a 360 or PS3 be able to emulate Saturn?

Well...since the 360 kind of emulates the xbox, the PS3 maybe(it's a long shot) an xbox. But people have to wright code for emulation. So sorry man.

Actually man, the wiimote is a bluetooth device.

BTW, the PS3, IMO, is more powerful. But it takes more than Processing power to determine that. Like, 3 3.2 GHz Cores does not mean 3 * 3.2 = 9.6, It means that more programs will work without lag. On the PC, you can see the difference between Single Core and Dual Core if you multitask a lot (Like play WOW while Burning a DVD or listening to Itunes)

There are no decent Saturn emulators for computers :/

EDIT: YAY! POST 2000! W00T!

But that's not a hardware issue, it's a software issue; there just aren't enough people (namely programmers) that care. In theory, yes, the PS3 has the hardware to emulate Saturn, but the developer support probably won't be there.

Although I'll be interested in seeing what they do with PS2BoyAdvance; as much as I hope they continue the project for PS2, they've stated that they're moving over to PS3. I wonder if ANYONE will ever come out with a functioning GBA emulator for PS2. I've never even seen one at all, let alone one that works.

Err, how is that getting the data of where the remote is pointing, what buttons are pressed, etc. from something that is emmiting --not recieving-- IR?

The remote has a camera of a sort in the front that the remote uses to trianulate where the IR LEDs of the sensor bar (or a homemade bar, or candles, or Christmas lights...), but it doesn't use that for communication.

The Wii remote uses bluetooth to communicate with the Wii. You can even use it on computer with bluetooth using a variety of programs.
