Suggestion- You should put the controller ports on the sides or back of your portable. Imagine big cords and 64 style connectors blocking your view of the screen whenever you and your brother play.

Suggestion-L and R should be on the back, not the sides. Imagine not being able to hold a controller correctly because you'll acedentally press L or R.
Good idea. I think I'll put them on the sides.

Yet another good idea. I'll put those on the top of the portable, however.

And the screen is an oval because I'm sloppy and I'm far too lazy to fix it.

:?

Either put them on the top or at the back. It's most comfortable that way.

(Tip: look at the way they are on the N64 controller, or any controller for that matter)

If you're talking about the L and R buttons, I'm putting those on the top. I think you thought I was talking about those, but I was actually talking about controller ports.

I dug up the old Game Gear the other day, and I was wondering... Could I use the Game Gear's case and screen for the N64p?

Woops, I thought you were talking about the L and R buttons, not the controller ports.

For the screen...
If you're a genius, then maybe.
Otherwise, forget it.

For the case...
Do you mean put an N64 inside a GameGear case? Physically impossible, unless you extended the case in all 4 directions lol

Here's my new plans for my N64p. I believe the plans are by Daguuy, but I found them awhile ago so I can't remember. Also, what are the black and gold things on the back? Battery or something?

Also, where can I find a good guide for doing the controller stuff? Daguuy's guide doesn't have that section yet, and there are no guides for doing controller ports.

i didn't make that design, you must have me confused with somebody else. the black thing is a battery but i'm not sure what the gold thing is. i guess i should get back to work with the guide, i haven't added anything to it for a while :P . if you're gonna use that design, i suggest making Z in a more comfortable/symetric place than L because it's used more. either that or do what i did and only have 1 button with a switch to switch between L and Z

Oh yeah, it's Triton's. Sorry! :)

Yes, get to work on the guide :-D A switch sounds interesting, but I'm too lazy to do that. I'll just have Z on it since I've never ever played a game that used L anyway. I think what I'll do is remove the Z button from the concept art, and put a note that the L button actually operates the Z button :-D Or perhaps I'd replace both L and R with Z buttons, because with the design of the portable Z buttons might be more comfortable to use. Hmm.

I have never been a fan of the square portables, they hurt your hand usually!

I sugest you swap the L button with Z and place the thumb pad lower than the stick. This way when you use the stick you can easily press Z and when the padis in use you can press L. Just like a normal N64 ontroller.
