Woo Sony Failed me AGAIN!

Yep this is a rant... and also a help post.

Everything thats sony I have dies, My Sony PS2. PSX, PS1, Sony Sterio, Sony Discman, and My Sony MP3 Player.

So heres the help part.

I just bought a sony Walkman Mp3 player from my brother 2 weeks ago, it worked fine until this morning.

Theres something wrong with the battery pack.

You know the 2 parts of, The spring and the other end.

The spring in mine is messed, The only way to get the battery to fully Touch the other end (The positive end) so it reads the battery and turns on, is for me to stretch out the coil with a pencil (I know its bad),

and the otherway for me is to push down on the spring for the mp3 player to read the battery.

But if I just move my mp3 player a cm, it stops reading the battery.

Any tips on fixing this?

My freind said that I could solder on wire to the spring part, and solder another wire to the other end, and connect the wires to the Poistive (+) and the negative (-) ends of the battery and it would work.

Is that true?

EDIT: My USB cord plugs into the mp3 player, and the mp3 doesnt need a battery to transfer songs onto it, but its not even saying the USB cord is plugged in... and its not my USB port tahts causin the problem. Can MP3 Players get viruses?

Sony can't make a product better than a $5 watch.
When you get a PS3, don't expose it to natural light. Any excess heat will cause it to break down.

Mines been fine since the start. Just because people positioned it so the 360 and the PSU got stuffed full of crap from the carbet adn stopped the fans working well isn't microsofts fault.

I've had my $5 watch from radioshack for about 5 years and it hasn't failed me yet!

And I've had a $200 PS2 for a while then it broke and I bought a $130 PS2 last week and it hasn't failed me yet!

And BTW, you probably could solder the battery to the mp3 player, but don't solder directly to the battery. (explosions = bad)

Im saying this, Can I solder 2 wires, to the battery PACK?
1 to the positive, and 1 to the negative spring thing.

EDIT: Problem located.. I have a short (win Positive and Negative come incontact with each other)

$130 PS2 last week and it hasn't failed me yet!

OH BOY a whole week! wow thats great they usually only last 3 days!

I've had my PS2 since 2003 with no problems. Same with my used xbox and used gamecube. Of course I don't play 18 hours a day either.

In fact the only consoles I've had problems with (that I wasn't hacking) are a couple sega genesis and sega CD's, but they were $2 yard sale finds, so I can't really complain.

One of the great elements of a free market is that if someone releases a crappy or overpriced product, no one will buy it. This is even more true today than it was years ago due to the speed that negative reviews of products hit the internet and spread through technology sites. There are bad 360's just like I'm sure htere will be problems with wiis and PS3s, but that is the gamble you take being an early adopter and one of the reasons these products come with a warranty. (or if you leave your new casio exifilm camera where your 14 month old son can reach it and he busts the lens mechanism while taking videos of his feet. Of course you tell the customer service dude "it just stopped working one day")

hooray for planned obsolessance! stuff designed to crap out sooner rather than later so you spend more on the next new thing!

what happened to the good old days where crap lasted FOREVER! hell we have a fridge from the early 80s, mebe older, been running every day and never quit, our new fridge has broken once already and its only 4 or 5 years old! ive got stereo equipment from the early 70s that works fantastic and i have cameras from the 50s that are still like brand new, not to mention my car which is still going strong after half a CENTURY and could take a hit and keep right on going, new cars have a fender bender at 20mph and they are practically totaled! my car had a TREE fall on it, not a big tree (like 6" diameter, a few hundred lbs) before i owned it, a little dent in the roof, a new car it would have probably caved the roof in and broke the window etc, stuff aint made like they used to thats a fact

All i gotta say is XBOX 360 DOSN'T OVER HEAT!!!!!! ALL MY FRIENDS HAVE THEM ON FOR WEKS AT A TIME AND THEY RUN FINE!

Wrong, I work at a gamestore, we have had 2 over heat, one that warps discs, and one that wont read any disks.

you have the worstluck in the UNIVERSE! When i was little, I cut the power cord off of a Sony tape recorder by accident. My dad was angry, but when he slapped on the duct tape and turned it on, it worked good as new. NYAH NYAH!
PS (PlayStation): IT STILL WORKS!!!

yeah, I really dont' think all of your problems are completly Sony's fault, I mean like I've had my ps2 since about it came out, still working today. Though my Xbox(which can't take a fall because it's so freaking heavy!) still works, but it likes to get overheated since my fan fell off it when I dropped it from about 18 inches onto carpet... My PSO only works about half the time, something is wrong with it's 'make the disc spin' button that is supposed to be pushed down by the top, but that thing is.. about 9 years old now, I got it in 1997.
