Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!
I am working on taking a book, carving out most of the middle, hot glueing it shut, covering the inside with electrical tape, and then putting the gutted NES components inside. Are there any notable dangers or problems that could arrise from using such a case?
I guess make sure nothing that gets hot (like voltage regulators) are really close to the papers of the book. Then you will make the very first portable fire system! err wait.... i think they're called lighters...
Oooooh, I could try that, with say, a textbook, I have a lot, and make a hardcover hinge, and make it fold up and down, of course using velcro to make it steadier (door that is) awesome idea.

You're gonna glue 100+ pages together? That's gonna be incredibly frustrating. The glue will add at least 50% of the thickness of the whole book. And like Klefmung said, if you miss one page, the whole thing falls apart. You'd be much better off just getting a block of wood and carving into it.
Actually, in theory, if you get the pages soaking wet and put a heavy weight on them until they dry completely (this could be a long long wait, perhaps days or weeks?), they'd be stuck together. Might even try speeding up the process with a hairdryer.
Paper is made from wood after all, and that's how they get layers of plywood to stick together.
