Well, I don't really have any pics of the process since my camera broke. I didn't think of using the scanner until later. I might be able to reuse pics from the first NES/GBO portable and make something decent.
x24 wrote:friggin nice.. why did u choose Green tho? and how long does it last with the led mod?
Mold. It was blue when I painted it :( :P nah, I just liked green. It looked good with the purple buttons.
I've been playing it for two days now and it still haven't changed the batterys. I'm gonna hazard a guess that it lasts 8-12 hours, but I won't know until I time it.
ChronoTriggerFan wrote:WOW Shocked That's incredible. I mean, it's not like I wouldn't expect something so beautiful from you, it's just your portables never cease to amaze me. Could you post a video/pics of it running? PLEASE???
I know! It sucks that the scanner can't show the LCD playing. I will get pics and/or video of it running hopefully this friday evening (my friend has a camera AND broadband)
NES_fanatic wrote:Where'd you get the connector? I friggin knead too no (speak it out). I broke my original NES only for my portable and need a replacement. Where'd you get this one?
I dremeled the connector off a family converter that I bought from gannon (just PM him, I think his store is down). Works great! But you can still buy the original-type NES connectors on Ebay if you prefer their crappiness.

lol, I really considered it! It's not too late... I could still change it...

I'm downlaoding a circuit drawing program as I speak, guess what for :)
I did dremel a good amount off the sides and rear of the board. All but one side had all this excess board for one ground trace! What gives? :| I just used two wires in it's place and voila, it was small enough to fit in the case.
Everything barely fit. The wires were pretty bulky. But I planned for that end left just enough space for them.

BTW, the NOAC I used was a Red colored Super Joy 3 from gannon. It dosn't have built-in games, but it's cheaper and legal that way. I'd reccomend buying one from him if you're considering making one of these. (I assume he still sells them)

Thanks everyone for the portable love and kind comments! I'm diggin' it!

I suggest that when you take it on vacation, keep it in your pocket, or in a hand-bag of some sort that stays with you the whole time... Prevent NES p0cketloss syndrome...

I would've, but I was snowboarding :P wipeout=*crunch*
I think I may have found the guy who stole it though. He keeps asking me if I've found it yet every time I see him, and he and one other guy were the only people I showed it to. I REALLY hope he slips up and I find it in his bag or something. Not that I can blame him, that thing was hot... Like *o* :P

Yeah! Except I don't think Yoshi was on the NES. Oh well.

Sorry, but I never got a video up last week, we got too much into Halo 2 and I forgot. (found out my sensitivity settings at 1 are the best way to get headshots and thus win!) But tomorrow I really will take a video! I promise!

I'm still downloading the schematic drawing program for the audio amp. The download keeps getting locked up, but I have a fix for that.

UPDATE! Got ahold of a camera from my dads work and took some pics. The screenshots look much cruddier than they do in real life thanks to the camera(And more than half of them were blurred to the point I couldn't use them.) the LED shining et the edges isn't even noticable in real life but for some reason the camera really picked that up.
Anyways I think I got enough to show what the system really 'feels' like. It's helluvalota fun to play, believe me.

Now about a how-to. I've attempted to make a how-to many times before, but they always ended up being junk. But I was looking at instructables.com and it looks like a real easy way to make it. I'm going to start rounding up my notes (currently all over my room) and pictures taken to see if I have enough to make anything worthwhile. (damn that broken camera!)
Or, I was thinking of making yet another NES Boy (or whatever I will call it) to sell. That way I could take plenty of pics (new camera has been ordered) and notes, and make some money at the same time!
