Fan

Post by coolio »

Am I gonna need a fan on my N64 portable. How long could I play it without needing one? I'm very excited because I have to mount 2 switches and the thing is done. It's not super pretty but i'm happy with it. I didn't fry any systems and it costed about 100$CDN. I might post some pics a little later.

If not a fan, then plenty of heatsinks and ventholes very close to them. Aks Marshall, G-force, or anyone else who built a N64p for the specific 411 :P ...

i use kinda small heatsinks and it gets pretty hot without a fan after about 15 minutes. with a fan it's good for a long time

What size fan would you suggest. My 5mm one won't quite fit unless I angle it. It also uses .16Ah. Being comletely oblivious to the matters of efficiency in small computer fans, do you know if this is good?

as long as it blows air. are you sure it's 5mm, that's really small. i think mine is 3-4 cm but that's because my 5-6cm fan doesn't fit

30-40mm are good. Make sure you find a way quiet one though. I say nothing above 20db, but that's just me.

So should the fan suck hot air out or pull cool air in on this thing?

blowing air in is better if there's more air vents and stuff but if it's an almost air-tight case then it should probably suck. or blow. i would go with blow

Ya, blow air in. If you CAN survive with two, and I'd put the on the side, make one blow, and one suck.

Stop right there you pervert.
