There are tips and methods to remove the Nintendo screws, look in the SNES forum it's one of the sticky threads. That should help you out. If you just want to use the Game bit screw driver, they're sold on ebay so you can find them easily there.

I have the same problem with my SNES. The stupid useless pen method doesn't work, and I'm not ripping apart my precious, rare, second-edition SNES because I don't have much plans of even turning it into a complete portable.

just do this.

Scroll down to the part about opening up the cartridges; the process of making one is pretty easy, although it might take awhile if you only use a hand file and not a bench grinder. This is what I did and it works pretty well.

You could do that but I would just use a pen but one thing about it Don't light it on fire the pen should just be clear still and not black... believe me I couldn't get it to work either until I stoped lighting it on fire and now when I do it the screws come out on the pen!

I think I spent almost as much on pens as I did on my gamebits which were $7 for a set off of ebay. (I'm sure he made at least $5 off of that sale, but I can't find them locally)

That's exactly what I do and the pen breaks immediately once I stick it down my SNES and start screwing it out. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, first I take the pen, melt it, jam it down my SNES, hold it there for a little while to make it take shape of the screw, pull it out, if it was successful I put it back in and start turning the pen. Somebody help me.

I utterly destroy the case of nintendo consoles with tin snips and the ol' dremel. Hasn't failed yet :)

Except the NES. You can open that and use it's plastic for other stuff like ataris.

i've used the same pen to open 5 N64s and it hasn't even melted/broken down much past the tip yet. you need to get a pen with real tough plastic, like this pink plastic pen of power! make sure it has thick plastic and weighs more than some other cheapy pen

u shouldnt really measure it by your age.. you should be measuring it on how long uve had access to the knowledge..

I'm 22 and havent finished one yet but I didn't take anything to do with electronics in high school other than Grade 12 college level Physics.. and next to none of it prepared me for anything I've learned in Ben's book or from the great people at this site..

How old was Ben when he finished his first? Doesn't matter.. He impresses us all every time..
