This is pretty old but I had never seen it. I guess Sony is now producing a high-end LCD TV with propreitary LED backlighting. Supposedly they render colors better than traditional fluorescent backlit LCDs. However, with a $7,500 - $10,000 price tag, I doubt any of us will ever find out.
Now, if they would only make a smaller, portable version...
