multimedia ds?
hey does anybody think its possible to putting some sort of windows on the ds? i know u can put linux on it, but i don't want linux. i would preferably like windows, maybe ce version. could settle for palm version. any thoughts?
The only reason I bought an XBOX instead of a gamecube was because of the crappy zelda graphics. Now getting a rev because of Zelda graphics with no HD...irony: I think so!

1. somehow copy Windows 95 to a flash cart
2. Wait until they port DOSbox to DSLinux, or compile it yourself.
3. Boot DSLinux.
4. Wait an eternity as DOSbox boots
5. start Windows Setup
6. wait another eternity as Windows installs
7. If it worked, then reboot DOSbox. wait yet another eternity. If it didn't work, smash everything out of frustration with your now arthritic , useless hands
8. wait forever as Windows loads
9. the Sun supernovas as Windows goes from the splash screen to the blank desktop with a cursor on it
There's no way to install Windows on the DS without some sort of emulation, because the Windows source is closed-source and it is not designed for the DS's internal parts. And DOSbox running Windows is butt-slow, even on a PSP, judging from what I have read.
So basically it's Linux or nothing. I don't think they have ported FluxBox to the DS, and certainly not any of the "windows-y" desktops like KDE or Gnome, either.

I don't remember ever seeing someone get Windows on a DS...
Here's a link to the guy who got Windows and Linux to run on a PSP using the Bochs x86 emulator, maybe you could do something like that although I'm sure many have already tried it...
Why exactly do you want Windows on it instead of something else?

ya well i wouldn't know where to begin on the whole writing driver crap. i would like it to be like: somehow get windows on the ds without having to write n e thing. gunna haveta use those flash cards unfortunatley, but when they crack the nds wi-fi and get the internet on it i could just easily upload it to the ds which would be really cool.
edit:
oo and the reason i want windows is because i like windows. i've never tried linux and wouldn't want to start it off and a handheld. if i have to i will, but would even rather go to palm os before linux. i know wut ur thinking but just no ok

anyways, you cant just get windows onto the ds with no programming. thats insane. someone would have already done it if it was that easy.
