Zodiac 2 OR GPx2

Post by KANDYMAN-IAC »

Ok, Failry standard question and I know someone has already asked it. But I'm asking it for some of my own personal reasons. So here it goes.

I currently could get a brand new Zodiac 2 for $190 dollars australian OR a brand new GPx2 for $270 dollars australian.

I'm a big adventure game fan, mainly Lucas Arts and sierra, I know both can run the necessary emulators to play both. I have also heard rumors that the GPx2 has even been able to play freeware AGS games through the linux interpretor.

I'm curious if anyone knows what the processing speed between scene changes and cutscenes is like. I've attempted to run games through my PC-ephone which only hsa 32mb ram and a 200mhz processor, which has an AWESOME 640x480 screen. But it is SOOOOOOOO slow.

Now I know the GPx2 has 64mb ram but 2 200mhz processors one dedicated to video, and I know it also only has a 320x240 display. And the zodiac 2 has 128mb ram but only one 200mhz processor, and also has a 480 x 320 siplay. Both take SD cards, of which I have 2 256mb cards.

Which will last longer, which will give better performance, better quality. From peoples experience ETC.

ADDITIONAL: - Triton any news on the ext port being able to act as a usb host (I only ask for mass storage purposes.)

I love my zodiac, and I hate the GP32 that I sold. Is that a sign?

no. i personally love my 2x. no news on the ext port yet. the gp2x has "its whole life infront of it yet" while the zodiac has stopped being made and all this other stuff, plus you have to figure the software for the 2x is only going to get better, its been out for less than a few months!

Technicly isn't it not even out yet? I'm not sure, someone said they only shipped the Preorders and not the actual orders. Eather way I can see the GP2x not haveing to many of its own games, but a great deal of Emu. I was about to say homebrew but 90% of the GP2x's programs are homebrew. :P

I'm going to ask my dad to order it tonight or tomorrow or something, how long did it take you to get yours, Triton.

I found this and I'm curious if anyone knows about it or what to make of it?

As far as possible end use for mass storage is concerned?

Time to bring up a mildly old thread.

I ordered my 2X earlier this evening, hopefully I'll get it sometime next week.
Are the 2X's shipped with the upgraded OS, or will I have to do that myself?

I'm thinking of getting one but have a couple questions. Does it have its own emulators or can i use some like ZSNES and Project 64 and all. (I'm completely new to stuff like this so please dont eat me  :P ) Also how would i get videos on it and stuff like that? (BTW what types does it support?) And what is the cost of it and arnt there 2 types? 1 with less procesor and 1 with more?

It has its own emulators, which can be downloaded at this place.
Not sure about video stuff.
And its 199.99USD shipped to inside of the US, and there is only one version, which has dual 200MHz processors.
