How to definitively test the N64:

1st : Test your screen with some other device to make sure it works.

2nd : Test the jumper or expansion pack with another N64 to make sure it's working. If you don't have another N64, then just use this and any other expansion packs and test them all until the N64 works or you have no more to test. If you buy a new expansion or jumper pack you can ignore this step.

3rd : Repeat step 2, but with the power supply (instead of the “jumper or expansion packâ€
