Hi everyone,

I know that the old NES model 1 uses 5 volts of power, but how many Amps does it need. I am currently modding one, and thinking of running it off USB power. Thanks.

Well a normal USB port is 500ma, a NES is about close to 1 amp so it would likely not work and blow the USB

USB 3 is about 900 amps... Wouldn't risk it. :)

So in order to power the board, I should find a power adapter that roughly 12v and run it through the voltage regulator, (according to what I have read) should I pay attention to the Amps on the adapter or will the Voltage regulator compensate for it and give the board what it needs?

Depends on what type of regulator you're using. A standard 7805 can easily handle the amps the NES uses (it's got a 7805 in it after all) and can take 12 volts without any real issue, though I think at that voltage it may need a decent heat sink on it...

900 MILLI amps... 900 amps would require (crunches some numbers in my head...) a 4.5kw power supply, and that's if all of the power was fed straight into the USB port. Holy balls >.<
