Hi guys,

i am planning my first project making a n64 portable. It has been done allot of times, so there is plenty of support.
But there is one thing i cant find. I am going to use a nimh 7.2 V / 3000 mAh racing pack for it.
But i want to charge and play at the same time, So when i plug in the ac adapter, it charges the battery and still plays the n64
And when i pull it out it only uses the battery.

Also when the console is off it needs to charge.

Anyone any idea on how to do this

Thanks in advance

Kevin Walter

1. Do not use NiMh batteries. They are heavy crap.
2. 3000 mAh = less than an hour of playtime.
3. http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=48155&p=458517#p458517
Note that that requires a separate jack for charging and system power because charging has a weird cycle and you don't want to overcharge your batteries while playing off of wall power.

Hi,

I saw that post a while ago.
But there is one thing about that i dont understand.
That safety ic only takes 3.7 V per battery ic,

But if i buy a battery pack (LiPo) 7.4 volts, How can i connect that battery pack to that ic.
Maybe i am just dumb, but i dont think it is a good idea to connect 7.4V to a connector pin that stops charging at 4V MAX
do i need to tear the battery pack appart, and connect the 2 cells to it?
Or is there an easier way to achieve this.

Also how many mah does that battery needs to be, 5000 ?

Thanks in advance

You buy a 7.4V protection circuit, instead of a 3.7V protection circuit. 5000 mAh should be good.
