I have an awesome pair of giant vintage headphones that are more comfortable and sound better than any other headphones I've worn but my ears get pretty hot after wearing them for too long. I'm thinking I could maybe cut some air holes in the speakers (which are about 2.5-3 inches diameter) and plastic casing and add a tiny quiet fan for some airflow but I don't know how that would affect the sound. Does that sound like a bad idea or am I a freakin genius?

You would destroy the headphones. :P
Pics? Sometimes you can get better earpads depending on the shape.

Fight MS Paint abominations! If you don't have a camera, go here, and pick something 3 megapixels or higher.

My camera's a broken piece of crap so I don't have a picture. The ear pads have shag and are extremely comfortable but I'm talking about the open space where my ear goes. Here's an artists rendering of what I'm talking about:

I tested my idea by cutting up the speaker in my old alarm clock radio to see how bad it could get cut up before I could hear a difference and I cut off about half of the speaker and it still sounds good but I don't have an identical speaker to compare it to so I can't be sure if there's some tiny difference. Anybody know if it has any affect on hurting certain frequencies or acoustics or anything?
