Nice job. I am following the book for a PSOne as well. Did you have any trouble getting the "teeth" glued to the nylon spacer to make the screen release button? I have put mine aside because of frustration with that part of the project.

Speaking of the LED mod, what are you using to power that beast & what kind of run-time do you get?

Suite! Can't believe how good that display looks. Makes me wonder if I am going to be kicking myself over the LED mod >=(

http://www.psxtune.com/produktee.html I bought the second one from the bottom when I first bought my playstation (the era of the first dual-shock generation). Works like a champ, but, of course the PSOne doesn't have the I/O port needed for that model. My concern with the boot disk is that you have ...

mod chips

Have been working on my first portable (a PSOne). I was thinking about putting a mod chip in so that I can play my backups & maybe some imports. I have seen several "4-wire" chips that look very similar. Any advice on which one is the best?

The trouble is that when I ask for 1/4" nylon plugs, the staff at the hardware stores (at least the ones I have been to so far) look at me like I just asked for an albino smurf. Was just curious if anyone had found an alternative piece that was readily available. Guess I'll stay on the prowl.

PSOne Brightness & Volume buttons

How odd is it that the brightness +/- buttons are a different height than the volume +/- buttons on the PSone screen? (anyone else notice this?) I still can't figure out why. Regardless, the taller ones are fine, but, the shorter ones just don't cut it. I have messed with them for a few hours ...

I appreciate the help. I got my screen finished, and it is functioning fine, but, I am having a couple issues. I noticed that the pieces of light diffusing plastic (2 thin plastic pieces covering the lens) seem to be different on each side (one side is a little more shiny and the other a little more ...

Sweet. That answers it. So, you advise "shaving" the LEDs as well? Anything to watch out for in the shaving (i.e. filing them too far, etc.)

Thanks for the advice. If I use 6 LEDs as you suggest, how should I position them (the book shows 1 in eacg bottom corner & 1 in the upper right-hand corner). Also, do I need to make any changes to the resistor (10 ohms recommended) or any of the other wiring that the book suggests when changing ...

T1 bright white LEDs

Howdy all. I am using a PSOne screen (trying to do the chapter 13 playstation by hand). Anyway, I have had everything torn up and ready to get at it, but, I am having trouble getting the CMD204UWC LEDs required to light the PSOne screens. It seems like Digi-key & Allied Electronics corner the market ...
