i messed up a nes hand built

i am working on building the nes hand built from ben hecks book.
i have not make a case but have made great progress in the wiring
and soldering.
i got sound to work and it sounds ok.
when i insert ear phones in the phone jack the unit shuts off
i removed the cartridge slot. i already fixed the ...

i am working on the nes hand built and
i got video and the nes works but i get glichs in video.
it's like the cartridge slot is messed up, but i fixed it.
is it because i removed it?

ok i got the screen to power on! :) hurray!!!!!!!!!
but nothing else works i guess no power to the nes mother board.

what i did is grounded the screen to the nes mother board.

the controls are not hooked up yet.

soooo i will continue to retrace

i connected a wire to the positive out to 5 ...

i don't think i can do this.
i need more know how on video game console hacking.
i was hoping that i could pay ben heck to finish my nes hand-built.

nes hand built does not power on

every thing else is fine!

do i do every thing in the book but the led mod?

do i need to mod the screen
at all?

do i have to mod the screen for the nes handbuilt?
do i need white leds or do i just need to bypass a fuse or two

need detailed pics of the front and back of the left board nes hand built.

in the nes hand built protect i had 8 tact switches.
in the instructions i was told to break off one lead.
but i broke off the wrong lead
do you think the tact swich will still work if i bend the leads to
fit.

i need these parts
and i am thinking of using capacitors from a old Nintendo board
i need pics of capacitors that will work for the nes hand-built
