Seems like a lot of trouble for something like this.

So you plan on cutting the PCB around the chip, then attempting to connect wires to the remains of the traces?

What happens if this is a multi-layered PCB?

Just doesn't seem practical.

That polygon processor does have a purpose and is required...

Accessing the 7.6 and 13 MHz clock signals on the Radica would be impossible since it essentially features a Genesis-on-a-chip. The clock signal (aside from the 53.693 MHz system clock) would not be interceptable.

The GOAC in the Genesis 3 was used in some newer Genesis 2's, therefore that chip ...

The 315-5960 ASIC in the Genesis 3 was also used in some of the later Genesis model 2s, so I knew it had to output both frequencies since VR works with those.

The Radica has a Genesis-on-a-chip that essentially plays like a bad emulator IMO, so if I were making a custom Nomad, I would certainly ...

Genesis 3 and Virtua Racing Compatibility fix

In my quest to make the 32x compatible with the Genesis 3, I have found a way to make Virtua Racing work. Not the best game, but i'm sure someone might be interested in this.

Aren't they all? :P

No. You might run accross the occasional MVS boot, but it's not too terribly common.

GUIDE: Overclock your Neo Geo

Definitely helps out with the Metal Slug games. I did this mod a good while back but finally shook off my laziness and wrote a guide. Enjoy!

I don't know if the SMS video hardware is located in the PBC or not, but I can guarantee you that the Z80 in the Genesis is used as the SMS CPU, and the Texas Instruments PSG is located in the GLU.

The Z80 in the Genesis is not used for SMS sound (when the powerbase is installed), it is used as the main CPU.

The Z80 talks to the YM2612 and is addressable by the 68000 during Genesis/MD gameplay.
