Do I have to use the translator board? Can't I solder the pins from the stick i'm buying to the correct ones on the motherboard of the n64 controller?

Analog Stick Swap
I want to change my n64 analog stick with this: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3373
And I could do it but I just need to know if it will work and if you could show me a pinout.
