NES Micro

Behold my smallest portable ever!

My lame impression of an iPod ad

Based off a NOAC (NES-on-a-chip) and measuring 5.25″ x 2.625″ x 1.625″ it’s half the size of the previous smallest portable I’d made. (which was also a NOAC-based portable) It has a 2.5″ screen and runs off 4 AA’s. Unlike the Game Axe the cartridge slides into the bottom of the unit and actually forms what you hold onto.

And believe it or not it has a headphone jack! (A feature I usually skip for some unknown reason) It’s really loud over the cans to ensure proper ear damage, luckily there’s a volume knob if for some reason you want to avoid that.

Ah, Pepsi, Nintendo and headphones. What more could you want?

To read about how I knocked together this thing check out the story and more pictures here. There’s even a spot where it’s compared in size to a Gameboy Advance Micro - you might be surprised how close it is!

Also be sure to check out the NES Micro on G4 TV tomorrow! (see below)
